Rain, Rain

Last night Louis, James, Sean and I went to the Arlington Heights fest (Mane Event). It is the one time of year you can drink in the streets!! We were having a lot of fun and we met up with Tony, Amy, Graham, Karen and crew. That is when it started raining, it went from sprinkling to downright downpour. It would start and stop and so it kinda put a damper on the evening. Maybe next year we can get good weather to party in the streets.

Today we are hanging out with the Malic and Unti crew (minus Sean, tear) for L&J's birthday.

Happy 2 Month Anniversary!!

Today is Louis and I's two month anniversary. I cannot believe its already been two months, time is flying!! I don't even feel like we went on our honeymoon so here is a picture to try and remember the amazing time we had together. Since I have to work late tonight (booooo) we are going to have our date tomorrow night.

I love you Louis and look forward to many, many, many years together.

Margarita Cake

When Louis and I went to Williams Sonoma a few weeks ago we got a sample of Margarita cake and it was yummy so I attempted to make it. The ingredients were really simple.

Cake Mix
Oil
4 eggs
lemon jello packet
lemons
powered sugar
MARGARITA MIX!!!

Mix the cake mix, jello packet (dry), 3/4 cup of oil, 3/4 cup of margarita mix and 4 eggs. Beat for 5 mins (this part is key). Put in a cake pan and bake at 350 for 40 mins (plus or minus depending on oven settings). Then let cool for 5 mins. While its cooling take the juice of two lemons and a splash of margarita mix and combine with 5 cups of powered sugar. This creatings the icing. Poke holes in the cake with a fork and then spread the icing over the cake and let cool.

Enjoy and let me know if you tried it and what you thought!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY!!!!

Since Kelly loves her birthday and is really big into celebrating her birthday (please note the sarcasm) I wanted to make sure as many people as possible knew it was her birthday. I unfortunately don't have a picture of us (which I plan to remedy when she comes to town next week) so until then you will have to make do with a picture from Facebook. In order to get this picture, since I can't access Facebook at work I logged into it on my phone, saved her pic as my phone background (yes, that is a little weird and I haven't changed my phone background) and then sent it to my email. She looks super hot in that pic!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY!!!

My Monica Closet

Prior to our new floors our upstairs closet had turned into our "Monica" closet. That's a FRIENDS reference for all of you that aren't cool enough to be in the know. I swear that I would have nightmares about how bad this closet was! Since we needed to empty this closet out to rip up the floors it was the perfect kick in the butt I needed.

I am slightly ashamed to show you the before picture,
Good luck finding anything in the back

We only bought two items to organize the closet
1. Two baskets from BBB, on sale and with a coupon...super cheap
2. Command Hooks-- one of the greatest inventions thus far

One basket contains extra hand and face towels while the other basket has extra bed sheets (take special note of how awesome those towels are folded)

Ladies, you know what I am talking about

My lovely MOH (that's maid of honor for all of you who don't know wedding lingo) asked me a great question today so I thought I would bring it up on the blog and see what others thought.

"How do you prevent your nails from splitting or breaking?"

The August issue of InStyle Magazine (the one with Courteney Cox on the cover) gives these hints:
  • Do 1 1/2 base coats. They recommend doing the top half of the nail for the first coat and then the whole nail after that.
  • Another cool tip (no pun intended) is to dip your hands in a bowl of ice water which speeds up nail drying time because it sets the lacquer much better
  • Lastly, they say to cut out thin paper (think tea bag wrappers) and cut into the shape of the nail and put a layer of clear polish on then apply the paper nail then add another layer of clear polish-- it acts similar to a gel nail and is much stronger

My tips (and these aren't brilliant because my nails still rip!!)

  • Cut nails down to a managable level
  • Two coats of base nail polish
  • Take multi-vitamins
  • I put vaseline on my hands at night, and I have noticed that when I don't have any polish on, it absorbs into my nails and makes them feel stronger

Let me know your thoughts, I am always looking for new beauty tips!!

Mary Sump, Attorney at Law

My super smart and awesome friend Mary probably didn't think that anyone knew that she was featured in the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce's Newletter--- but oh yes my friends we found it and are showing it off!!! Doesn't she look so cute in her picture!

Remember if anyone needs a lawyer (and lives in Illinois, because your Michigan lawyer needs to be a Ramsayer!!) then give Mary a call.
