Bethenny Ever After

I have been waiting since last summer for one of my favorite shows to return. Bethenny Ever After premieres tonight on Bravo and I am PUMPED. I find Bethenny to be honest, hilarious and highly entertaining. I feel like she is one of the few "hollywood" type of people that you can connect with because she does things like not knowing how to unhook the car seat out of the car. She also likes to say the most random things to describe a situation- granted all not appropriate but that is what makes it entertainment.

Are there any other Bethenny fans out there?

My Reading List

While I didn't plan it or make it one of my resolutions for 2011, it just so happens that I have been reading a biography each month. In January I read "Eat Pray Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert and in February I read "Going Rogue" by Sarah Palin. This journey into biographies came from my desire to change it up a bit from my usual Nora Roberts romance novels. Don't get me wrong- I love those books and will continue to read those. I just wanted something different, I wanted to read about actual people and their experiences.

Eat Pray Love- The book was way better than the movie. I read the book first and then watched the movie. I can relate to this book in the sense that it truly is about trying to find yourself and what makes you happy. Plus, I have been to Rome so when she talks about her adventures I can actually visualize it.

Going Rogue- To be honest, I bought this book after watching the TLC series called "Sarah Palin's Alaska". I was curious about her and during the 2008 presidential election, I didn't give her much, if any credit so I thought it was time to hear her story. The book was actually very good. I learned a lot about Alaska and politics. I very much respect Sarah Palin after reading this book. Our views on a lot of things match up.

So now I need help, I need another biography, I want to read one a month for all of 2011. Recommendations are welcome!!!!

Let there be Light

Finally, a post about home decor! Louis and I's bedroom had a lighting problem. We have a fan with a light attached but its quite bright and only two of the light bulbs are screwed in. Then we have a little tiny lamp next to my side table. I like to read before bed and well this light doesn't really work well for this half blind eyes. Our bedroom also had really high ceilings so we wanted to create something that naturally drew your eyes upward. While at Target, Louis spotted these lamps so we decided to take them home. Louis got excited and tore the tag off of one of the right away so good thing we liked them. (Although at first I was skeptical because I thought they might be too tall). Now we both have lamps and better lighting in our room. The best part is the shade matches our comforter almost perfectly!

Chicago Wolves Game

The Hew Crew (Hewitt peeps) decided that we needed another get together that was something different than CubbyBear. Aaron came up with the idea of going to a Chicago Wolves game and so that is exactly what we did. I have to admit we were all a little nervous about Aaron actually being able to plan and execute but he pulled through. I have only been to one other professional hockey game (Hawks vs. Wings-- thanks Melanie cause that was awesome). I was looking forward to doing something different and fun. I had not anticipated what a production a Wolves game would be. They had fireworks and flames and all kinds of fun. Our seats were the first row of the second level which gave us a perfect view, Aaron also got a free soft drink and hot dog with the seats, booyah! The Wolves ended up losing but the game was well worth it.

The Wolves played the Texas Stars

Tony, James and Louis

Krista and Aaron

Hockey!

Skates (the Wolves Mascot)

Aaron eating his cotton candy, you would have sworn we were with a 3rd grader!

The blimp that shot out cookies (freakin awesome!)

Skates pumping up the crowd and throwing out T-Shirts

I needed at least one picture with me in it

My Mood

Over the last two weeks I have been in a bad mood. I just am not the happy upbeat Jenny that I am used to.

I blame it mostly on work because I am getting increasingly frustated and annoyed with many aspects of my job. I am constantly having to tell myself to stay positive and relax, but as the knot in my shoulder proves, I am not really good at that. It also doesn't help that my personality in general (much like my father's, thanks dad!) is one in which I need to vent and get pissed and heated then cool off and you can clearly tell when I am upset- there is just no hiding that one.

It also sucks big time that Louis has been working late practically every night for the last two weeks. The only time he hasn't been working is when he has class or on Valentine's Day. Last weekend he even worked on Saturday and Sunday. I haven't gotten to hang out with him or spend any time with him. I also hate having to drive to work alone-- its a luxury that I have grown used to and I love taking my nap on the way home from work :)

I am also super ready for it to be spring. I have had enough with the snow and ice and freezing cold. I know we had a heat wave the last few days but I am not naive enough to think this will stick around.

I kinda feel bad that this post isn't very happy or upbeat but it does explain why I haven't been blogging as much. (Well that and I don't really have a lot of fun things going on right now).

Today I have vowed to stay positive all day at work no matter what happens, hopefully I can keep that promise. It works in my advantage that we get Monday off of work, I need some time to unwind :)

Happy Friday!

Happy Valentine's Day

I know I have been slightly MIA on the blog this past week, but honestly I didn't have much to write about. I thought I would make up for it by wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's Day. Louis and I are going to go to Wildfire for dinner and I am pretty excited for a good steak. Louis and I have made a pact for last few years not to get each other presents on V Day to save some money and instead we just go out to a nice dinner. It is a must though to get cards for one another :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

It's Official

Most of you are aware (probably due to all of my bragging back in November) that I completed my MBA. Well last week in the middle of the blizzard I got my diploma in the mail. I am a little peeved for two reasons:

1. It is TINY! It is already bad enough that Louis has the obnoxious IWU frame making it look like he is smarter than me, but I guarantee his DePaul diploma is bigger.

2. It doesn't say Summa Cum Laude, yes that is right I want to brag and how can I do that if it isn't on the diploma?

If anyone would like to make me a bigger and better version feel free!!

(Sorry for the blueish tint/half blurry photo I used my phone to snap a quick pic)
