Little Mover

Here is Blake on the middle of his blankets

Approximately 3 seconds later he managed to get off of the blanket

Blake has figured out that the best way to get where he wants it so simply keep rolling until he gets there. He also will scoot and grab blankets to get places but that requires more effort than the roll method.

Louis and I have determined that Blake is officially a thumb sucker. As much as we try to get the fingers out of his mouth, he has learned to self soothe simply by sucking his thumb. On the one hand that is nice becuase I don't have to put in his paci every two seconds (he still likes the paci) but I worry that breaking the habit in the future is going to be rough.

Our Weekend

Our past weekend was pretty lowkey but still a lot of fun. On Saturday we met up with Jenn, Chuck, Joslyn and James at WoolStreet in Barrington for lunch and then headed to Jenn and Chuck's place to hang out afterwards. Blake loved being in a new surrounding. He was showing off his tummy time.

Joslyn was so cute with Blake. She kept handing him his toys and playing with his carseat. At one point she got on the floor next to Blake and they both did the airplane that Blake loves to do so much. Plus, that curly hair is so stinkin' cute!!!

On Sunday I had wanted to go shopping to find a dress for Kelly and Efren's wedding that is 3 weeks away in Florida. Since my brother and my Mom were free, we decided to head to the outlet mall. We took Blake while Louis stayed behind to clean the house (lucky him!)

Hanging out at the Baby Gap, trying on his Golf hat. He wants to be a golfer like Daddy.

When you are as cool as Blake you need to rock the shades. He didn't care at all that we put those on him. I am hoping that is a good sign for when he needs his head band in a few weeks!!

Cozy Blanket Time

This is how I found Blake this morning after I finished drying my hair. Apparently he just wanted to get cozy while watching Little Einstein.

Holy Weather

While I realize that Chicago is famous for its unpredictable weather, the last week or so has been nuts. It has been in the 70's-80's in March!! That is practically unheard of, although I will never complain, I love it. Blake has been getting a lot of fresh air. The new challenge is to make sure he is in the shade at all times. On Sunday we stopped by my parents house for lunch and Blake got to stretch out and play in the yard. Yet again, he is attempting to fly like superman.

Since I was not prepared for this crazy summer weather in March, I had to hit up the store yesterday to get Blake some short sleeved onesies to wear as well as some shorts. The poor kid only had fleece PJ's which clearly aren't going to work, so at night he has been sleeping in a onesie.

5 Month Pictures

Don't worry, I didn't drop the ball and forget to take Blake's 5 month pictures. Since he turned 5 months on Tuesday, we waited until this weekend to take his pictures because after daycare he tends to be crabby and tired which doesn't make for a good photo shoot. It is becoming increasingly difficult to get Blake to look at the camera and sit still for pictures. Pardon the randomness of the photos.

Friday Morning Fun

Ever since Blake figured out how to roll onto his stomach that is all he wants to do. However, he is not content just hanging out on his tummy, no no he wants to move. Since he hasn't mastered crawling yet and his way of getting around is pulling the blanket to move forward he has taken a new approach, FLYING. He is hilarious, he sticks his arms out at his side and lifts up his legs and attempts to fly. I think this is actually one of his baby yoga poses he does at daycare but he loves it.

Me attempting to get a picture of him flying

Closeup of his take off

Flying takes a lot of energy so he needs to rest on his back.
P.S. I love this outfit, for some reason the crab reminds me of Hilton Head. I think next year a trip there is needed (hint hint grandparents)

All of the playing got him tired. He also has begun to suck his thumb...we are trying to stop that habit. Wish us luck!

5 Months

Today my little man is 5 months old. He is growing up far too quickly. He LOVES to roll over and blow bubbles and stick his tongue out. He is still a spit up/drooling mess so anyone who holds him, beware! I tried to take some pictures before work and of course he refuses to smile or laugh while I have the camera in his face.

Daddy's Boy

Blake is a daddy's boy. Anytime Louis is in the room, Blake needs to know where he is and looks for him. It is so cute that he always wants to be around his daddy!

Taking a walk

Yesterday we had 60 degree weather which meant we wanted to take a walk. It was so nice to get outside and enjoy some fresh air. With any luck spring is right around the corner. Blake was extremely confused by the walk. This was the first time that he didn't fall asleep during a walk and was interested in what was around him. He had the funniest look on his face the whole time.

Blakester

Yep, I am that Mom that wants to take his picture right after he wakes up in the morning. He clearly wasn't in a photo op mood. However, go figure as soon as I put the camera away he started talking up a storm and smiling/sticking out his tongue.

Wiggle Worm

Ever since Blake has figured out how to roll over, he is hard to contain. He keeps turning anytime we try changing his diaper or getting him dressed in the morning. He also now has a new fascination of grabbing his toes.
