A Merry Malic Chrismas

This year Louis and I were really excited for Christmas because we hoped that Blake would be a little more into opening presents and enjoying the holidays. For the most part Blake was good, but he was only really interested in unwrapping a present or two then he wanted to run off.
We have so much to be thankful for this year and are so blessed to have such a loving and helpful family!

Our holiday celebration started off down in Flossmoor.

Opening presents

Blake was fascinated by feeding the squirrels in the backyard peanuts

Blake's other fascination, Nike the cat. He followed him everywhere.

On Christmas Eve we went over to my parents house to celebrate. My Mom made an amazing meal with bacon wrapped filets and king crab legs....YUMMY!

Uncle Sean got Blake a sled!!

We took Blake outside for a ride. He ended up laying down and LOVED IT.

Maybe loved it a little too much! The backyard sledding put him to sleep within 10 minutes

Christmas morning! This is Blake mad that I am taking pictures and not letting him play with the camera

Great Uncle Jack and Aunt MaryLou got him Nick the Dog

Scoping out all of his presents from Santa

Playing with his new Little People car ramp. As soon as he opened it he started crying until Louis opened it and set it up.

We are still here

We are still here life has just been a little crazy in the Malic household. Last week I started a new job at Baxter. Louis and I now work for the same company again. Being able to carpool and eat lunch together is a great bonus. I am still getting used to a new job but lucky for me my new team is super nice and friendly. We also moved. We are officially Crystal Lake residents. We are slowing settling into our new home. Granted, there are still boxes everywhere and nothing has been hung on the walls but it is starting to feel like home. We are excited to spend Christmas in our new house. Blake is loving all of the extra space to run and play. The basement is his play zone.

Merry Christmas! Love, Louis, Blake and Jenny

Jingle Bell Rock

Tonight was Blake's holiday show for daycare. His class performed Jingle Bells and had to shake and dance. They have been practicing for a few weeks. The teachers said that Blake had some serious dance moves so we were curious to see what he would do come performance night. He ROCKED it!! He didn't cry, he even danced and shook his jingle bells. A few kids did cry but not our little man. Also, a big thank you to Aunt Katie for getting him the super cute sweater to wear. At the end of the show he even met Santa. Here are a few pictures of the night.

Grand Geneva Tradition

Every year we make it a point to go to the Grand Geneva to look at their annual holiday display. Each year the theme changes. This year it was Candyland. Lots of yummy and fun displays. Of course they always have a few traditional elements as well.

It is no secret that Blake is absolutely in love with my Dad. If my Dad is around the rest of us might as well not exist. He insisted on being carried by him at all times.

This was his reaction when my Dad walked away and we attempted a picture

Since we couldn't get a family picture, we decided to get a Jenny and Louis picture!

Thanksgiving

This is how much I love the 5 of you that read this blog, I have hit my free picture storage and had to pay to upgrade my space. So enjoy more pictures of the peanut!

As you can see from above Blake really enjoyed his Thanksgiving meal. Please note, he was wearing a shirt bib and I don't normally dress him in shiny red plastic outfits.

I also wanted to take the opportunity to get some family pictures in while the weather was still nice. Blake was NOT having any of it. The first problem was that my Dad was outside and Blake is in love with my Dad so if he sees him and my Dad isn't holding him, it causes trouble.

Finally, we asked my Dad to walk away because we weren't getting anywhere. Well, Blake decided he still didn't want to cooperate. He would rather play. Oh well.......

Luckily we managed one good picture but I am saving that for the Christmas card.

PlayDate with the Jagers

If you would have told me about 5 years ago that I would be having playdates with my boss, I would have laughed in your face. Well fast forward and Katie and Blake are now playing together. Katie just turned one so they are super close in age which is an added bonus. Dave and Katie came over to play (Amy was working, booo) and I think it was a definite success. It took a little bit for both Katie and Blake to warm up to one another and start playing but they managed pretty well. Blake is used to other kids from daycare and so I was thankful he didn't try and push Katie over a million times.

Since the weather was super nice we took them outside. Fresh air is magical for babies. Both Blake and Katie were super happy to be outside playing. We even ventured to the park for some swings and slides. All around, it was a successful playdate. We can't wait for many more.

Young House Love

Fair warning, this post contains no pictures of Blake.

As many of you probably know Katie and I have consistently had a monthly date since graduating college, that is 6 years strong now. For this month's date, we decided to make it a girls day out to go to the book signing of Young House Love. To give some background, Young House Love is a home decor, DIY, and lifestyle blog that we have been reading for a few years. Katie and I feel like we are friends with John and Sherry (the faces behind the website) so when they announced they were writing a book we were excited. Katie pre-ordered the book for me as a birthday gift and since they were making a stop in Chicago we decided to go meet our "friends".

Luckily Katie and I are type A personalities so we knew that due to their popularity we needed to get downtown early and have fun waiting in line. We timed it perfectly, we got front row FREE parking and we were inside waiting in line (which was perfect for Raegan and the fact that it started downpouring).

Raegan was such a trooper, honestly she was quite perfect the entire day. Kudos Raegan!!

The only time she was mildly upset is when Katie forced her to wear shoes, haha.

I am not loving how I look in this picture but because there aren't many Katie and Jenny pictures I feel obligated to share

Our Lunch, provided by West Elm

When John and Sherry first came out they did a mini talk, as luck would have it the talk was right in front of us.

Us meeting Sherry and John, they were super sweet and nice

I think Katie and I can officially say we are now BFF with John and Sherry

I am so glad that Katie, Raegan and I were able to have a great girls day and I see this as a start of a fun tradition. Eric, Louis and Blake can go golf, us girls are hitting up the spa!

Walking the Dog

I know what you are thinking, we don't have a dog. And you are right, we don't. However, Blake is in love with dogs. Over Labor Day Grandma Kathy got him a little puppy "Patch" and at the time Blake wasn't super into the toy. However, over the last few days I think he thinks it's his real pet. So this morning I decided to take one of my skinny belts and create a leash so Blake could walk the dog. Needless to say, he was a fan.

We are still working on keeping Patch upright :)

Apparently the leash tastes good as well.

Like Father Like Son

Some of you may have already seen this picture because Louis posted it on Facebook. Over the weekend we wanted to take Blake outside for some fresh air because its magical powers make him happy and tired so he naps well :)

Blake is a master at trying to find anything he can get his hands on and play with so naturally he found some golf clubs in the garage. Have no fear, Louis would NEVER allow Blake to touch his nice stuff, these are his old ones. Blake just carried the club around thinking it was the greatest thing on earth. I forsee many Daddy and Blake golf course outings in our future.

Dancing

Lately Blake has been really into dancing. At daycare he dances all the time and when he hears music he just starts groovin! Over the weekend he received this puppy from my Aunt Darnece that when you press his foot it sings The Adams Family theme song, well Blake is in LOVE with this. He plays it on repeat (ugh) and dances. We love watching him dance, we could definitely do without that song stuck in our heads. :)

Here is his holding his new puppy.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!

This morning Blake was really into wearing his fireman helmet around the house (he got it at daycare when the Cary fire department came to visit). He didn't dress up as a fireman, but I thought it was super cute so I had to share.

We decided that the criteria for Blake's costume was the following: 1) He would wear it 2) nothing he can rip off 3) comfort.

Enter the MickeyMouse Costume

Don't be fooled, he doesn't mind the costume, he is really mad I made him sit and attempt a picture. I swear in the last 3 months I don't have one picture of him smiling. grrrrr.

Even MickeyMouse needs to drink milk

Watching MickeyMouse :)
