Happy Anniversary Katie & Eric

I cannot believe it has already been a year since Katie and Eric made me stand outside in the freezing cold, while I had a cold to take winter wedding pictures! Their wedding was gorgeous, fun, filled with love and a great way to kick off 2010. Through all of the wedding chaos of last year, we were still able to maintain our monthly dates and I so glad because I consider Katie and Eric some of our very best friends.

Eric-- you better have planned something nice for Katie since she planned North Carolina for you!!!!

Congrats you two and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for you both (hopefully that future includes kids that I can spoil and be an honorary aunt too :) )

Happy 25x2 Birthday Mom!

January is a busy month in the Unti household. Not only did my little brother turn 24, but my awesome mom is turning the big 5-0 today!! Even though she doesn't look a day over 4o.

Mom, I just want you to know how much I love and respect you. You have always been there for me and given me the support and friendship I needed. Plus, now I will know how good I will look when I turn 50.

Happy Birthday!!

Winter Winter Go Away

I am getting really tired of the cold and blah winter. To get me through the next two months I decided to post a picture of our honeymoon where it was nice and warm with plenty of sunshine!

Us vs Them

My entire family is from Wisconsin, yes I was born there too (well there are some on the Michigan/Wisconsin border-- but that is a technicality and Sean was born in IL) and therefore they are all Packers fans. Some how, my dad became a Bears fan despite all of the green and yellow surrounding him. I am guessing he did it just to poke at my Grandma who could be one of the biggest Packer fans I know. As a result, I am a Bears fan. For as long as I can remember it has been my dad and I against the rest of the family in this football rivalry. Even my mom roots for the Packers!! Since we have family living in Green Bay and Sean even went to school there, I have been to Lambeau Field many times. They do have some awesome cheese curds but that is where I draw the line!

Today is going to be a big day either my dad and I will do a victory dance or get many phone calls rubbing it in our face.

To get in the Bears spirit I thought I would share a pic Sean and I took at Lambeau Field showing our support for Chicago!

GO BEARS-- especially my fav's Greg Olsen and Robbie Gould!!!!!!!

And the winner is...

Secret Option #3.

I know, that wasn't one of the two that I had to vote on so don't feel bad for all of those that voted, I truly liked hearing everyone's opinion. The race was really close but Option #1 became the front runner. When I went to the store and saw the placemat in person, I just wasn't thrilled...it didn't look the same as online. I then looked at Option #2 and again, it just seemed more blah and not screaming "I have style". Then I found this guy.... and its funny because in person it looks great, but the picture doesn't do it justice. The background is grey (woohoo because that is a Jenny fav -- yep I just busted out the third person reference) and then the branches are purple-- so two of the colors I loved from Option #2 wiggled their way into the new inspiration.

I ended up buying two green candles for the glass holders in the dining room and then bought some green and grey rocks for the super cute vase/bowl from Melanie for our kitchen table.

Next step is to continue to use this placemat as inspiration around the rest of our main level (kitchen, dining room and living room)

New Design Scheme

Now that all of the Christmas decorations are put away and we are back to our "regular" decor, I feel like there is something lacking in our dining room/kitchen. The table runner and placemat we have now are very summery (cream, yellow, green, blue, pink stripes) and well, its still snowing outside! Since we still have some money left on our gift card to Crate and Barrel I was hoping to use one of these two placemats as inspiration for the new decor. Currently the wall color in the kitchen is a shade of green and the walls in the dining/living area are tan. I want something that goes along with that color scheme already so I don't have to keep buying cute accesories that I can't mix and match around the house.
Option #1
This poppyseed placemat is cute and fun and has the green accents in it. I also like the splash of red and it doesn't scream a particular season or time of the year
Option #2
What can I say, I am in love with gray. I know that sounds depressing but I am literally drawn to every gray sweater I see-- its kinda a sickness. I really like the blue, purple combo as well in this one. This is a more casual feeling to itOk peeps--- please help me decide! Post your comments!! I plan on going to Crate and Barrel Wednesday night (the hubby needs a SERIOUS haircut so while he gets a haircut I can shop).

7 months

Today is Louis and I's 7 month anniversary!! Yes, I know many of you think it is lame that I am celebrating each month that we are married for the first year but I only plan on being a newlywed once so I have to celebrate as much as I can!!

Louis will be in class tonight so I will be celebrating at home watching reruns of Glee :)

Happy 1st Birthday Aubrey

Today is Miss Aubrey's first birthday. And because I find her super adorable and cute I thought I would share some pictures. (I took these from Cheryl and Justin's shutterfly account- hope you don't mind!!)

I personally think that Aubrey looks exactly like Cheryl. Her curly hair is awesome and I am jealous. This little one has definitely kept the Hansen household on their toes but I mean come on, one look at that face and I would give her anything!

Also, a special thanks to Aubrey as she introduced my husband into the world of babies!

I heart Melanie

Last night Louis and I were out for Jill's happy hour and I didn't have my phone right next to me. At about 8:30 or so, I checked my phone and realized I had some text messages from Melanie demanding that I check my mail. Well of course I texted her back saying "snail or email" and she told me that there was something outside by my garage. That got me really pumped. One of the great things about Melanie is that she is really into surprises and is a great gift giver. Imagine our surprise when we get home to this:

How yummy does that look? I almost ate one last night when we got home but figured I would wait to enjoy it more!

THANKS MELANIE!!!!!!

Chicago Winters

Ok, so this picture could have practically been me driving to work this morning. I still find it fascinating that every year everyone knows that we will get snow and yet two things never fail to happen:
1. Snow plows magically are not on the roads when its snowing
2. People drive like crap, either they are speed demons and cause accidents or drive slower than I can walk

Now, I am all about safety and taking the road conditions seriously, but I don't think it should have taken me 1 hour and 45 mins to get to work today (normal commute 35-40 mins).

GLEE CD

In my excitement for actually getting the Glee CD for Christmas, I never blogged about how much I freakin love it!!!

My favorite song is Forget You (Gwenyth Paltrow and cast)

I think I might even have Louis enjoying some of the songs, I made him listen to the entire CD on the way to Flossmoor and back over Christmas and he didn't freak out or complain!!

I can't wait for all of the new songs with the second half of the season picks back up.

Coupon Crazy

No, I am not talking about becoming the Krazy Coupon Lady, but for my New Year's Resolution I want to start saving more money. When I think about all the money we spend (mostly at Wal-Mart and going out for dinner/lunch) I get a little upset because I think we can do MUCH better. I am going to attempt to take tips/ideas from the Krazy Coupon Lady in attempt to save the Malic household some serious cash. The main problem that I am going to encounter is that to truly maximize your savings you need to stockpile, and well, I just don't have that type of space in my house. My goal is to start small and try and use coupons on a regular basis and stockpile within reason (i.e. 3 things of toothpaste versus 20). Hopefully I will be able to share my results and progress throughout the year. If anyone has any tips/ideas that work well, please let me know. According to the KCL (Krazy Coupon Lady) toothpaste should always be free-- I am going to put that to the test.

In general though, Louis and I have been fortunate enough to not have to budget every dime we have, which has actually done us a disservice because we have gotten accustomed to that way of life. By no means do we plan to never go out to dinner or not buy name brand toilet paper, but in general I am hoping we can save a lot more.

Wish me luck!
